TITLE To Study the Effects of Social Media Addiction on Sleep Patterns and Mental Well-Being with Respect to Pune City
ABSTRACT Social media usage has become deeply embedded into the daily lives of young adults, driven by rapid digitalization, affordable internet services, and the popularity of online interaction. While these platforms support communication, creativity, and access to information, excessive engagement often leads to sleep disturbances, emotional exhaustion, and poor psychological health. This research aims to examine how social media addiction influences sleep quality and mental well-being among young adults. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire focusing on social media usage duration, late-night phone habits, mood patterns, and sleep routines. Results indicate that compulsive social media use significantly disrupts sleep cycles and contributes to anxiety, stress, and reduced emotional stability. The study concludes with recommendations for balancing digital habits and promoting healthier screen-time practices.
