TITLE NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX for Military Defense UAV Applications
ABSTRACT NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX has been one of the most potent AI edge computers for executing sophisticated machine learning models in embedded systems, best suited for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in military defense missions. This compact System-on-Module (SoM) of- fers supercomputer-scale processing of 21 TOPs for AI inference and impressive power efficiency in 10W–20W range at an equivalent board level without an enclosure. Equipped with 384-core NVIDIA Volta GPU and 6-core NVIDIA Carmel ARM CPU, Xavier NX can execute multiple neural networks in parallel and simultaneously process high-resolution sensor data. Its design fits very well in terms of stringent size, weight, and power (SWaP) limitations of aerial systems. In UAV applications involving military defenses, NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX offers realtime recon- naissance through on-board image and analytics to detect, classify, and recognize objects and keep targets in view in realtime. It also supports multi-camera and sensor fusion to support autonomous navigation, avoidance of obstacles in GPS-denied modes, and coordinated swarm behaviors. Sup- ported by NVIDIA JetPack SDK and compatibility for most prominent AI frameworks, it provides an ideal software framework for swift development and deployment of complex AI models in mission-critical military defenses.
