TITLE Impact of Social Media on Teen Mental Health
ABSTRACT Social media has become a central part of teenage life, influencing how adolescents communicate, learn, and express themselves. While these platforms offer opportunities for connection, creativity, and emotional support, they also pose risks such as cyberbullying, social comparison, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. This study examines the patterns of social media use among teenagers and evaluates both its positive and negative effects on their mental well-being. Using a structured questionnaire and descriptive analysis, the research identifies that excessive screen time, online pressure, and negative interactions often contribute to stress and reduced self-esteem. At the same time, many teens benefit from online learning resources, motivation, and peer support. The findings highlight the need for balanced digital habits, awareness programs, and supportive online environments to promote healthier social media use among adolescents.
