| ABSTRACT | This paper examines the evolution of modern legal systems through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in law firms. AI is no longer a hypothetical concept but a rapidly expanding operational reality that is fundamentally reshaping legal practice. This evolution presents a stark duality: on one hand, AI offers significant opportunities to enhance efficiency, automate routine tasks, and provide deep analytical insights in areas like contract management, legal research, arbitration, and even internal talent management. On the other hand, it introduces critical new risks related to professional ethics, client confidentiality, algorithmic bias, and the "black box" problem of unexplainable AI. The sanctioning of lawyers for using generative AI tools that "hallucinated" non-existent case law serves as a critical warning for the profession. This paper synthesizes research on these emerging applications and their associated risks. It argues that the future of AI in law is not one of full automation but rather a hybrid model. This approach, which combines irreplaceable human judgment with explainable, verifiable, and retrieval-based AI systems, is essential for successfully navigating the technological evolution of the legal industry. |
