TITLE AI Impact on IT Employees in India
ABSTRACT Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping industries worldwide, and the Information Technology (IT) sector in India stands at the heart of this transformation. As AI-driven tools, algorithms, and automation systems become integral to organizational functioning, Indian IT employees are witnessing profound changes in their job roles, skill requirements, and workplace dynamics. This research paper aims to examine the multifaceted impact of AI on IT employees in India, focusing on both the positive and negative consequences. A Google Form survey was conducted among IT professionals to assess their perspectives on AI adoption, job security, productivity, and required skills. The results show that AI is widely perceived as a tool that enhances work efficiency and supports innovation rather than as a threat to employment. Approximately 68% of respondents reported that AI has improved their productivity, while 57% expressed concerns regarding potential job displacement due to automation. Respondents also emphasized that continuous upskilling, adaptability, and emotional intelligence are critical for thriving in AI-enhanced environments. The analysis concludes that AI is transforming, not replacing, IT jobs in India. While repetitive and rule-based tasks are increasingly automated, new opportunities are emerging in AI development, data analytics, cyber security, and cloud integration. The future workforce must adopt lifelong learning and a growth-oriented mind set to coexist effectively with AI technologies. Thus, AI should be regarded not as a rival to human labour but as a catalyst for human advancement in the digital era.
