| ABSTRACT | Multilingual communication in real-time collaboration tools remains a critical challenge in linguistically diverse regions. SmartCollab is a proposed paradigm that combines real-time collaboration (voice, video, chat, and whiteboard) with accent-aware speech technologies to both improve user experience and generate research-grade speech datasets. This survey reviews the state of the art in automatic speech recognition (ASR), text-to-speech (TTS), neural machine translation (NMT), and accent-robust modeling techniques, with emphasis on approaches that enable inclusive, adaptive systems. We summarize existing datasets, adaptation strategies, deployment considerations, and ethical concerns. Finally, we outline practical research directions for building scalable, privacy-respecting platforms that close the performance gap for regional accents and low-resource languages. |
